Open Letter from the NCMC President
April 3, 2020

Dear Conference Attendees, Vendors, Supporters, and Friends of NCMC,

Greetings! I would first like to share mine and the boards well wishes during these uncertain times. I hope that you and your families are healthy, safe and well.

I would like to extend my apologies in getting out this communication to everyone so late. I am sure that like many of you, this crisis has really set us back and forced a substantial work and lifestyle change. I would like to thank you for your patience as we work through this.

I would like to update you all on where NCMC stands as of April 3, 2020

  1. I am very thrilled to announce that we will be able to provide full, 100%, refunds to everyone who registered for the conference. It took us some time to work through all the numbers, so we appreciate your patience. This full refund is made possible by the generous support of our vendors and sponsors who either donated their fees back to NCMC or who asked that we transfer it over to next year's conference. I cannot thank them enough. Please allow us up to two weeks to process these refunds. If you have not received your refund by April 24, 2020, please email our Treasurer, Edith Brady at treasurer@ncmuseums.org. If you decide that you would like your registration fee donated back to NCMC, please let Edith know.

  2. I would like to thank our sponsors who donated their fees back to NCMC. We truly appreciate your generosity and I will be reaching out to all of them soon to personally thank them for supporting the work that we do.

  3. I am also thrilled to announce that NCMC will be returning to Rocky Mount in 2021. The venues were really understanding and agreed to hold our place for March 28-29, 2021.

  4. There are many people to thank for putting a great conference together but also adjusting under these unique circumstances and coordinating with our speakers, vendors, venues and conference registrants to cancel the conference and re-schedule for 2021. Everyone from the LAC to our Professional Development Chair, Adrienne Nirdé, to our Annual Meetings Chair, Alicyn Wiedrich, to our Conference Administrator, Liz Lord. Thanks!

We will continue to plan for the future of the museum community in North Carolina. We are working on a professional development workshop that we hope to announce details for soon. Thanks again for your support, encouragement and your commitment to NCMC. If I can ever be of service, please feel free to reach out at president@ncmuseums.org.

All the best to you and your family! Please stay healthy and well!

Yours in museums,

Scott Warren
