Job Description: Organizational Overview: The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire visitors and residents to experience authentic Hillsborough. Through our guided tours, educational programs, and special events, we strive to reach diverse audiences both within and beyond the Hillsborough community. We operate the Hillsborough Visitors Center, which is open seven days a week and serves over 7,000 people each year, and we manage a growing tourism marketing program. In addition, we provide expertise in issues related to historic preservation and cultural conservation within the Hillsborough community. We are proud to work collaboratively with our partners in tourism and preservation, as well both Town and County staff.

Position Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, outgoing and creative individual for the position of Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate will serve as a member of a team that develops and implements programs, special events, and educational activities to support tourism in Hillsborough and leads efforts to increase the visibility of the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough.  The position is responsible for administrative duties as assigned.  This is a full time position, averaging 37.5 hours per week.  The workweek for this position is Sunday-Thursday, though some work will need to be done outside normal business hours to accommodate our special events.  Salary is commensurate with experience, starting at $29,000, with a competitive benefits package.
•       Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in education, history, or other relevant degree
•       Experience developing and managing interpretive history programs
•       Experience working with volunteers and teachers
•       Excellent speaking, writing and presentation skills
•       Ability to write and create interesting and engaging tours, programs, and exhibits
•       Enjoy and welcome public interaction and networking and possess a high degree of professionalism
•       Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel)
•       Takes  initiative and works with minimum supervision in carrying out responsibilities
•       Detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands, setting and meeting deadlines
•       Must be able to work as part of a team and promote a positive working environment
