NCMC Board NewsWe need you…
For comments from the NCMC president about the importance of Council membership and presence of volunteers on the Board and its committees, visit here.
Per the NCMC By-Laws, the following NCMC Board positions are to be filled in even-numbered years (such as 2010): The Annual Meetings Chair, Professional Development Chair, Archives Chair, Governmental Affairs Chair and Newsletter Chair.
Terms of service for those positions are two years, although chairs may serve two consecutive terms in the same position.
If you, or any NCMC member you know, is interested in working on the NCMC Board, we strongly encourage you to let us know ASAP.
You need not have a specific Board position in mind, just a willingness to serve on the Board and act in the best interests of NCMC and North Carolina’s historical community.
Participation on the Board is a great learning and net-working experience!
Nominations will likely be due by November 2, 2009.
Just fill out and submit an application form.and you will be considered for upcoming positions on the board!
The form above submits to the Nominating Chair (Mr. Peter Koch). You may also email him at nominating@ncmuseums.org.

As established by its by-laws, nominations were accepted and the membership elected new officers and some of the Council's section chairs at its annual meeting in March, 2009. Other section chairs are chosen in even years.
For two year terms, the Council elected Richard Sceiford to serve as president; Ashley Poteat, vice president; Lindsey Lambert, treasurer; and Jenny Litzelman, secretary. Returning as awards chair is Jenean Todd; directory chair, Catherine Coulter; membership development chair, Terra Schramm; and public relations chair, Jeff Bockert. Peter Koch took on a new responsibility as nominating chair. The student affairs chair has not yet been named.
The North Carolina Museums Council officially approved nominations for chair positions elected in the even year while attending the Annual Meeting of the Council in Fayetteville, on March 6, 2008.
The Council membership voted Courtney Hybarger to the Annual Meetings Chair position, Harry Warren to continue as the Archives Chair, Kyle Bryner to the position of Newsletter Chair, Kathryn Beach to continue as the Professional Development Chair, and Edith Brady to take over the Governmental Affairs Chair. The Board named Catherine Coulter, who was the prior Governmental Affairs Chair, to assume a one-year assignment as Directory Chair, a position vacated by Courtney Hybarger.
The five elected positions will hold the chair position for a two-year term.
