A dedicated cultural funder in North Carolina for over 45 years, the North Carolina Humanities Council is pleased to present this grant-writing workshop. Participants will learn the fundamentals of writing a competitive grant proposal in the cultural sector as well as perspectives on how reviewers approach the evaluation of proposals and letters of interest/intent (LOIs). Participants will also learn about current funding opportunities offered by the North Carolina Humanities Council.

Caitlin Stanley serves as the Director of Programs and Operations for the North Carolina Humanities Council and manages six state-wide Council initiatives: Large Grants, Community Engagement Grants, Community Research Grants, Museum on Main Street, NC Center for the Book activities, and Special Initiatives projects.

Her professional experience includes designing unique programs, program data analysis, and writing/assisting with grant proposals. She has served as co-Chair of the Data Task Force, a national collective of state humanities councils promoting the use of data collection and analysis as a means to evaluate, improve and advocate for the humanities sector. She currently serves as a member of the Federation of State Humanities Council's national Data & Evaluation Committee. Prior to joining the Council, she served as a Disaster Relief Grant Specialist at the Foundation for the Carolinas.

A Charlotte native, Caitlin is passionate about academics and non-profits, and is eager to design and facilitate programs that will expand access to life-long learning opportunities for North Carolinians.

Caitlin earned her M.A. from Vanderbilt University in Latin American Studies focusing on anthropology and history. Prior to earning an M.A., Caitlin completed her B.S. in anthropology concentrating in sustainable development and minored in both Spanish and history at Appalachian State University.



The North Carolina Humanities Council is a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Through grant-making and public humanities programs, the Council serves as an advocate for lifelong learning and thoughtful dialogue about our shared human experience.
