The Wilkes Heritage Museum, a non-profit organization, is seeking a full-time Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator. This position will work with museum staff, board of trustees and volunteers to develop and implement special events, fundraisers and facility rental as well as recruit and train volunteers and maintain the museum gift shop. The museum would like for candidates to have previous experience in planning special events as well as excellent communications skills. Non-profit experience is a plus. Applicants must possess great organizational and management skills, PR skills, advanced computer skills and be a team player who shows initiative. The person must have knowledge of visitor services standards and be good at multi-tasking. The position calls for heavy lifting, walking and standing for long periods of time. Requirements are a minimum of a two year degree, four year a plus. The Wilkes Heritage Museum would like candidates to possess three to five years of experience in planning special events and working with volunteers. Accounting knowledge/background would be a plus for the position. This full time position is salaried (salary dependent on experience) and has paid vacation and personal leave. Nights and weekend hours are required.
