The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum at Historic Palmer Memorial Institute is a 40-acre site with 15 structures, including a Visitor's Center, and a Historic House. The site offers regular tours of the Historic House, the campus, virtual presentations, and programming, all focused on the life and work of Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown and the Palmer Memorial Institute. The Institute was a private boarding school for black students from 1902 to 1971. The workweek will consist of Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 to 5:00 pm with some work at night required during special events, etc. The Historic Interpreter II will be responsible for the development of interpretive programs and special events. Greet and orient site visitors, conduct tours and special programs, operate the gift shop, and give on-site and off-site presentations. Plan and coordinate on-site special events, schedule, and coordinate group visits. Provide interpretative programming, conduct artifact management and care, and conduct general office work. Coordinate site publicity via media outlets and social media, answer rental inquiries, and coordinate rental logistics. Assist with internships and volunteer recruitment and assist with site maintenance and cleaning. The person in this position must have good written and oral communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. This person must also enjoy working outdoors and with the public, as well as have good organizational skills.

Hiring Salary Range: $31,200 - $48,058
